This summer has been full of drought.. no rain.. literally... like...none. And this made me start to REALLY worry about the project I am working on right now. We had set it up in May, and then it was just left alone for 3 months. As each month passed with no rain, I would think to myself...my experiment must be D-E-A-D, dead! We had 3 days of rainy-ish weather the week before I sampled in mid-August, and that really helped out in keeping my plants id'able at the very least. While most stuff is brown, dry and crispy right now, I can still tell what it is, and count it, which is the main concern. However, after 3 weeks of work, and again no rain, things were getting really, really brown, dry and crispy. As we enter September stuff starts falling over in the field and from my past experiences, makes field work a real pain. I was anticipating that this falling over would happen much earlier this year because of the drought, but thankfully it rained, and rained and raaaaaineddd yesterday, so that should keep things...bearable...until I finish sampling.

It really is fascinating how different this summer's weather has been from last summer's weather. Last summer I was setting up my MSc experiment and it rained ALL of May. Literally. It rained until it drowned my plants (not a word of a lie). ----------------------------------------------------------------------->
I guess Mother Nature really has a mind of her own!
With rain also comes me...doing nothing. For those of you who know me personally, you'll know I don't do nothing very often. You'll know that when I do nothing for too long I start to go crazy. Hopefully tomorrow I will do something productive with this project.. if ANYTHING maybe I will start doing some data entry for it.. (ya right).
